Ronita offers in-person educational psychology services for children and adolescents, including psychoeducational and school readiness assessments, dyslexia intervention, play therapy, career guidance and TRE.
Families often contact me when learning and emotions start colliding, reading and spelling don’t improve, attention becomes a daily battle, or anxiety and exam stress begin to affect confidence and results. As an Educational Psychologist, I help you make sense of the bigger picture and choose the right next step, with practical recommendations you can implement at home and share with the school.
Parents often reach out when something feels "stuck," despite effort, support, and lots of encouragement.
If you're noticing ongoing school stress at home, or you're getting mixed messages about what your child needs, this is a helpful place to start.
Possible dyslexia and you're unsure what will help most → Dyslexia Intervention
ADHD-related concerns, impulsivity, or executive functioning difficulties → Psychoeducational Assessment
Slow processing speed, working memory difficulties, or "takes forever to finish" patterns → Psychoeducational Assessment
Grade R to Grade 1 readiness, maturity concerns, or foundational skills → School Readiness Assessment
School refusal, big reactions after school, or emotional distress → Play Therapy
Low confidence, perfectionism, frequent tears, or frustration at home → Play Therapy
Subject choice or career guidance for Grades 9–12 and decision pressure → Career Guidance
IEB, NSC, or Cambridge concession questions and documentation requirements → Psychoeducational Assessment
If emotions or behaviour are the main concern, you may be looking for play therapy and counselling.

I offer evidence-based services including psychoeducational assessments, reading interventions for dyslexia, play therapy and counselling, and Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE). My work also focuses on supporting individuals with Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and ADHD.
My approach is warm, structured, and evidence-based. I look at the “whole learner,” learning profile, emotional wellbeing, and school demands, and collaborate with you and the school where appropriate. I aim to reduce overwhelm by translating concerns into practical steps, with realistic expectations and clear priorities.

You don't need to know upfront whether your child needs therapy, an assessment, or a combination.
The first step is simply helping you feel less uncertain and more informed.
WhatsApp, email, or call. I'll ask a few key questions, age/grade, your main concerns, school context, and any reports you already have, so we can choose the best starting point together.
We clarify goals and history. Depending on your child's age and needs, this may involve a parent intake, time with your child, or both.
You'll receive a clear plan tailored to your child, what we're focusing on, what to expect, and how we'll measure progress or outcomes.
You get practical guidance: recommendations you can implement at home and share with the school. Where appropriate, I can liaise with teachers or refer you to other professionals for additional support.
No referral is required, parents can contact me directly. Referrals from schools, paediatricians, psychiatrists, OTs or speech therapists are welcome too. If your school is requesting specific documentation, tell me what they need and I'll guide you on next steps.
Most assessments happen over a small number of child-friendly sessions, followed by scoring, interpretation, report writing, and a feedback session with parents. The overall timeline is usually a few weeks from the first appointment to final feedback, depending on availability and complexity.
Yes. If concessions are appropriate, the assessment report includes recommendations and supporting information aligned with school and exam-board requirements. If you're unsure whether your child might qualify (extra time, reader/scribe, etc.), contact me early so we can plan around school deadlines.
Tutoring focuses on teaching school content. Educational psychology focuses on understanding how your child learns (and what gets in the way), then creating targeted recommendations and support plans. Sometimes families need both, the assessment helps tutoring become more effective and less frustrating.
Many families submit claims to medical aid, depending on their plan and available benefits. I can provide an invoice suitable for submission. Because benefits vary widely, it's best to confirm your Educational Psychology benefits and limits directly with your medical aid administrator.
If the main concern is learning/attention/academic progress, an assessment often gives the clearest direction. If the main concern is emotional distress, behaviour changes, or coping, therapy may be the better starting point. If it's mixed, we'll decide together after an initial intake.
I work mainly with school-going children and adolescents, including Grade R learners for school readiness, primary school learners with learning or attention concerns, and high school learners for subject choice, exam stress support, and guidance around accommodations when needed.
Yes, with parent consent. Where it's helpful, I can provide practical classroom strategies, interpret recommendations with teachers, and support a consistent plan between home and school. Collaboration is always done in a respectful, solution-focused way that protects your child's dignity.
